Opportunities for Growth, Outreach, and Community

Home Groups: Loving God, One Another and Our Neighbours

Whenever Jesus calls someone to follow him, Jesus always calls that person into community with other Christ-followers. As a church family our strongest form of community is through home groups who support, encourage and challenge each other in weekly meetings at someone's home and in the ongoing friendships that develop.

Most groups will start the week of October 4th and run for 12 weeks. This year there will be groups on the following topics.

Connecting Faith and Reason: An Apologetics Home Group
Do you lack confidence in communicating your faith to your friends? Do you often feel that you don't know how to answer common objections to Christianity? In the next 12 weeks, the objective of the apologetics home group is to look into some of the common arguments raised against Christianity in North America and explore ways in which to effectively engage in these conversations with our friends and family. The group will be held weekly in an interactive discussion format.

The Christian Steward: "All You Do After You Say Yes to Jesus"
In our study on Stewardship, it is important to state at the outset that this is not a study about money or giving. Or to put it a better way, it is not just a study about money or giving. In fact, it is a study about everything that touches our lives. Necessarily that means money and possessions are included. But so are time and talents, our health and our bodies, our families and our homes, our relationships to others. And if we understand how comprehensive a topic stewardship really is, it also has to include our relationship to and care for the earth and the environment, as well as our relationship to the world - all the people of the world, and to God. In other words, stewardship encompasses all of life.

Theophostic Prayer Training
We will begin weekly training sessions in Theophostic Prayer Ministry (TPM). TPM helps Christians become free from fears, shame, false guilt, anxiety and emotional pain by exposing the lies that we have come to believe, some through severe trauma, and others through common life experience. In Romans 12:2 Paul encourages us to "be transformed by the renewing of [our minds]." Jesus is the Light of the World and can illuminate the darkness in our minds and bring us into His truth and the wholeness we were created for.

Senior Women's Bible Study
This will be held on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am in the McDonald Room starting on September 22nd.

For more information or to be put in touch with a group leader, contact the church office or one of the pastors at 439-3654 or .
