On Sunday, September 10, 2017 we took time in our service to pray for the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma: specifically the victims in Texas and Florida. It was pointed out to me later that in that prayer, I overlooked all of the devastation that these storms have caused in the rest of the Caribbean Islands prior to their US landfall (I should add, it was pointed out appropriately and lovingly).
Now, to my own defence, my mind was focused on the Texas and Florida situations because of personal connections with people who have been affected. And so I prayed from that frame of reference. However, I think there is also a bias in my thinking about these events because my awareness of them is largely shaped by my exposure to the North American news media, who have a largely US-centric focus. I'm not, here, going to argue whether that is good or bad; I'm just recognizing that it is the reality.
The purpose of this Prayer Wall is to provide a place for out community of prayer to expand our focus of attention. This Prayer Wall is to be a place to add your prayer requests for things that are happening in the world. And also for you to read about and pray for other people's requests.
To add a request, you will need to join the forum (you can sign up at the top of the page). Please be aware that all additions will be moderated for content and adherence to our guidelines.
If you read a prayer request and are moved by God's Spirit to pray, please leave a comment to let us know. And if you become aware of ways that God has answered these prayers, please let us know that as well.
Isaiah 62:6,7 says, "I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth." May many join the watchmen on the walls...
