Our Staff Team
Aaron began working as a Street Mission Outreach Worker with SBC in March, 2018.
Aaron enjoyed a long career in international sales where he had the opportunity to meet and work with people from cultures all over the world. After moving to Edmonton, from Ontario, with his wife, Wanda, and son, Kip, Aaron came to Christ in February of 2014. He soon felt the Lord’s calling to serve his homeless and marginalized neighbours in the Spirit of Jesus, in the Old Strathcona community. After several winters volunteering at The Neighbour Centre, he transitioned to full-time employment there. During that time Aaron found that he also has compassion for incarcerated men, which he expresses by walking with inmates as they make the transition from prison to our community.
In 2017, Aaron obeyed the strong prompting he felt from God to journey—in a Street Outreach capacity—alongside neighbours, helping them find spiritual, relational, emotional, physical, and mental healing.
Dennis has been with the Street Mission Outreach Team since 2018. He asked God so many times for a sign to confirm that this was the path he should be on. God sent him signs, and he'd ask again for another sign, still unsure if it was right. The last time he asked for a sign, it took God 15 minutes to send it. And he answered that call immediately. He knew and couldnt turn away from that calling. The comfort of life had it's grip on him. But this time he knew. Breaking free from the comfort God blessed him with, after 32 years running his own general contracting company. He's a Father, a Grandfather, a Brother. Family is very important to Dennis, his work in SMOT is an extension of his chosen family, and never tires spending time with his family and extended family he's invited into his life. Through his work he continuously follows as God leads. To him, its up to God to determine the mission, vision and success that he creates through Dennis being the hands, arms and legs of Jesus and God guides him. If you see Dennis out and about feel free to say hi!
Christina has been a part of SBC since 2010. First, serving in a volunteer capacity for the Canteen, which ran out of our kitchen in partnership with The Salvation Army. Distributing leftover food from bakeries and grocery stores has always been a passion of Christina's. She and her husband, Andrew, quickly partnered with The Family Pantry, to pick up bread and sweets to distribute to the marginalized, and they continue to do so.
In 2013, Christina answered God's call to lead Children's ministry and she was baptised. She was the Director of Children's ministry at SBC until 2017, when her own children started school and life got busier. She has two children, John Marcus (11) and Charlotte (9). They are also very active volunteers in the church.
Christina feels called to be in this role as Administrator. It is the answer to many prayers. She loves connecting with all of the church family and using her administrative gifts.
Eric first came to Strathcona Baptist in August of 2014, filling in while the Senior Pastor was on leave. In January of 2016, that temporary position became permanent.
Eric is passionate about engaging the community of SBC in the mission that God has for this church. He enjoys and greatly appreciates the leadership teams that he is part of at SBC: a staff team that obviously enjoys working together, and a team of volunteer leaders who love Jesus and his church, and who love the people of Old Strathcona.
Eric, and his wife Beth, and their kids, Jonathan and Elisha (& Cullen), have spent most of their lives in Edmonton. When he's not "on the job," Eric prefers to be on his motorbike or, in the winter months, thinking about being on his motorbike...
